After the cold season, we are left with dry and lifeless surroundings.
But, soon the sun returns to warm the earth and refresh us with the renewal of spring.
Flowers appear on the hills once again, accompanying them with their fresh scent of life.

Now, while nature is celebrating this joyful rejuvenation, we usually take advantage of this glorious moment in a different way. SPRING CLEANING!
Oh, sure we clean along the year, but this cleaning is special.
So, we tackle the dust, the mold and the dirt. We enter places we don't ordinarily go. Like forgotten closets, sheds and storage rooms. Let's not forget the attic, the cabinets and the dreaded garage.
We dust... we sweep... we mop... and we scrub! We sort out... clean out... and throw out!
Of course, after all this hard work, in a few months... we just have to do it all over again!
However, we will never be able to make it a perfect environment free from all the dirt. So we are forced to sacrifice our time, energy and lives just to keep things clean.

You know, it is one thing to have a clean house but it is another matter entirely when it comes to our hearts. For many generations, God's people went to extreme measures just to clean their hearts. That is how it was for the God's people in the beginning. Every year they gathered to spring clean their hearts by way of the Holy sacrifices unto God, only to find their heart was "dirty with sin" once more. Read the following from (Hebrews 10:1-4, 18) NIV

1 -The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming--not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. 2-If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshippers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. 3-But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, 4- because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 18 And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.

It seems endless, doesn't it? It's not! Jesus gave us hope!

Read (Hebrews 10:15-18) NIV

15-The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First, he says:
16-"This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds." 17-Then he adds: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more." 18-And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.

After years of offering sacrifices according to the Old Testament law, this was no longer going to be sufficient. The reason being that God's Plan was about to be fulfilled in His Son, Jesus.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) NIV

Jesus died to take away our sins for a death sentence that should have been our own. Then on the third day He was raised to live again.

He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. (Romans 4:25) NIV

What does this mean, exactly? Simple, this makes us right with God and it assures us an Eternal Life with Him!

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:1-2) NIV

Are you someone who like the Jewish people need a Holy sacrifice to make you clean?

Perhaps you've tried endless rituals and empty religions that just don't sanitize your soul enough to give you that "squeaky" clean feeling. If so, know that Jesus is that one sacrifice that can clean your heart from sin on the inside and outside once and for all!

Maybe your heart has experienced His Salvation, but lately your "life" isn't providing a clean atmosphere for Him to live and needs a touch of His Holiness. It could be, that there is dust on your bible or cobwebs entangling you in sinful pleasures. You just don't feel that "fresh" feeling like you once knew! Listen, Jesus is the Restorer of life which can bring about your heart's original luster and shine with just one coat of His Power!

So maybe the old adage is true after all,

~ He gathered me up soiled and grime,
Applied the Blood just in time,
Oh Jesus Oh Jesus, Savior Mine,
You made me CLEAN and now I SHINE! ~
